PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was arrested outside the Portland Value Inn in Northeast Portland after allegedly assaulting a police officer who was investigating him for domestic violence.

Portland police said officers were investigating the domestic violence report at the motel when they saw Justin Fowler, 23, outside the victim’s motel room. The first officer at the scene tried talking to him, but he didn’t cooperate, police said.

When more officers arrived and tried to take Fowler into custody, he resisted and kicked an officer, police said.

Medical responders treated the domestic violence victim at the scene and the officer was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Fowler faces charges of felony domestic assault, 2 counts of domestic violence menacing, assaulting a public safety officer and resisting arrest.
