The band was nominated for their song “Feel It Still.” It’s arguably the most popular song on their newest album “Woodstock,” which was released in June.

KOIN 6 News had the chance to talk to some of the members of Portugal. The Man including John Gourley, Zoe Manville and Zach Carothers.

When asked why they chose Portland over bigger cities like New York City and Los Angeles, Carothers said, “Portland’s just the best city in the country. This is where we live. Best food, best people — this is the place to be.”

While the band has put out 8 full-length albums, they’re still shocked to be recognized on such a national level.

“It’s so unexpected to get a nomination,” Gourley said.
