Man, 27, in critical condition after Yamhill shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two men were injured in shooting in Yamhill on Friday night, leaving one with a life-threatening injury.

The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office and Yamhill Police responded to the report of a fight involving gunfire at 9 p.m. near 180 South Maple St.

Upon arriving, a Yamhill police officer found 67-year-old Richard Mershon suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The victim David Trivelpiece, 27, sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound and remains in the hospital.

The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office said Mershon was released from the hospital Monday and arrested for 2 counts attempted murder and one count each first-degree assault, unlawful use of a firearm, menacing and harassment.
