PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland Police arrested a 24-year-old man Tuesday, Nov. 14 in relation to recent thefts and burglaries around the Portland metro area.

Adam R. Meyers has been dubbed the “Jay from ‘Clerks’ Burglar” by several people who came forward and recognized Meyers as the suspect who burglarized and stole packages from their respective buildings.

Officials said they began their investigation into Meyers after multiple people contacted them saying they had been victims of package thefts and burglaries — which occurred in July and November. The thefts and burglaries were captured by video surveillance footage and detectives released still photographs to the public in hopes of identifying “Jay from Clerks.”

As the investigation continued, officers viewed the videos and photographs and believed Meyers to be the suspect.

Meyers was taken into custody Nov. 14 near Northwest Broadway and Flanders Street.

He was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of 2nd-degree disorderly conduct, 3 counts of 2nd-degree burglary, 1st-degree burglary, possession of heroin, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, 1st-degree theft and mail theft.
