PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A girl was found injured on the side of the road in Rogue River early Monday and later died.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says a passerby found the 13-year-old girl, later identified as Meadow Boyd, around 7:30 a.m. in the 5100-block of East Evans Creek Road. She was taken to a hospital and later died.

Investigators believe Meadow was either hit by a car or something attached to a vehicle. They also said the person may not have realized they struck her, however, officials said the driver was likely aware that they hit something.

Anyone who drove through the area is asked to call dispatch at 541-776-7206. Also, anyone who has a surveillance camera system that records traffic on East Evans Creek Road between the city of Rogue River and Wimer is asked to call.
