PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A driver — who suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision with a tractor-trailer on North Lombard Street near Marine Drive — died at a Portland hospital shortly after arriving.

The truck was headed north on Lombard and crashed into the southbound car, police said. The truck driver was not hurt.

Preliminary investigation shows that the southbound driver was driving at a high rate of speed, lost control and crossed the center line before colliding with the truck.

On October 18, police identified the car’s driver as Brandon C. Cassell of Portland. He was 25.

This is the City of Portland’s 36th traffic fatality in 2017.
