OREGON CITY, Ore. (KOIN) — The Oregon City Transit Center was closed for hours Thursday as police looked into a suspicious device in and near a car found between 10th and 12th streets in the downtown area.

A bomb squad robot carefully searched the car, including in the trunk, and removed a number of items. Authorities have not yet said what was in the boxes.

Officers with the Metro Explosive Disposal Unit reportedly investigated the device and “rendered it safe.”  The Transit Center re-opened around 3 p.m.

Detectives are looking into who was associated with the car and why it was parked in Oregon City with a suspicious device, according to police.
