FAIRVIEW, Ore. (KOIN) — The death of a person found near the railroad tracks in Fairview Thursday was initially deemed suspicious but investigators later said it was likely suicide.

A railroad worker found the body and called 911. Another passerby, Previn Dirran, and his girlfriend were heading to Marine Drive when they saw the man’s body.

“I went closer to him and saw it was a real dead body,” Dirran said. “There was lots of blood and some type of weapon like a little knife or something like that.”

Authorities arrived at the scene at NE Townsend Way and 223rd around 11 a.m. Thursday.

On Friday, they announced that the autopsy results showed the death was likely self-inflicted. They will not be releasing the person’s name out of respect for their family.
