BANKS, Ore. (KOIN) — Two trucks collided head-on along Hwy 6 near Banks, sending one truck over the embankment and killing the other driver.

The crash near Rogers Road happened around 2:35 p.m., the Oregon State Police said. A westbound box truck crossed the center line and slammed into a loaded chip truck, which then careened down an embankment.

The driver of the chip truck was taken to a Portland hospital for treatment. However, the box truck driver died at the scene.

The names of the people involved have not yet been released. Investigators are still looking into the cause. The road re-opened about 9:30 p.m.
