Dallas, OR Walmart suspect fired gun before being shot

DALLAS, Ore. (KOIN) — A DUII stop outside a Dallas, Oregon Walmart escalated, leaving left one officer wounded and the suspect dead.

Police received complaints that the suspect, Jeremiah Anderson, 36, appeared intoxicated in the Walmart parking lot, Oregon State Police said.

Sgt. Rob Hatchell and officers Mike Fleming and Aaron Mollahan responded, but things escalated. Anderson resisted arrest and fired as many as 2 rounds. Hatchell and Fleming returned fire and struck Anderson, who died at the scene.

Hatchell was shot in the leg, but was treated and released from the hospital. Fleming and Mollahan were not injured.

Per protocol for officer involved shootings, all 3 officers are on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

Dallas is about 15 miles west of Salem.
