TIGARD, Ore. (KOIN) — Snow stopped just about everything in Oregon this week, but it can’t stop love.

Matt Behrens and Shannon Kernan had plans to go to Portland City Grill and then to see the Holiday Tree in Pioneer Courthouse Square. He also had a plan in mind to “pop the question” that night.

But they got snowed in at their place in Tigard.

He went outside to shovel and decided to improvise: in the snow he wrote, “Marry Me”

“I told her I needed some help with the car,” he told KOIN 6 News. When she came out, she saw the message — and said yes.

“I’m really glad it worked out the way it did,” she said. “I guess this turned out to get a lot more attention than (being asked inside a restaurant) would have.”

The happy couple now has a story to tell for the rest of their lives.

The proposal picture, by the way, was snapped by a neighbor who just happened to see what was going on.
