VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN) — A clean-shaven white man in his 30s is being sought by Vancouver police for impersonating an officer and trying to kidnap a woman late Sunday night.

The woman told police she was on her way to an in-person meeting with someone she met online shortly before midnight. The woman was the passenger in a car driven by a male friend, police said.

When their car got to the area of Maxon Road and SE 19th in Vancouver, the driver noticed flashing lights behind and pulled over for what they thought was a police stop.

They said a man — about 5-feet-8 with a medium build — was dressed like a police officer as he approached their car.

At that point, the fake officer pulled the woman from the car, handcuffed her and put her in his car. But she realized the officer was an impersonator and managed to run away.

Police said her man-friend also ran away, and the suspect drove away.
