SCAPPOOSE, Ore. (KOIN) — A Scappoose man was arrested by the FBI on child porn charges as he returned from an overseas trip.

When Curtis Cronin arrived at PDX on November 6, he was taken into custody by agents from the FBI and from the Port of Portland police.

The investigation began on November 1 when the FBI contacted the Scappoose police about someone downloading child pornography. Over the next few days, investigators found enough evidence to get a search warrant for Cronin’s home in Scappoose.

During a search of his home in the 33000 block of SE Dill early on November 4 by the FBI, Scappoose police and the DHS, several “electronic devices” were taken, officials said in a release.

But Cronin was out of the country.

Authorities were waiting for him when he landed 2 days later.

Cronin was taken to the Columbia County Jail and is being held on bail of $3,040,000 on 76 counts of 1st-degree encouraging child abuse.
