Chick Wilson, the owner of Beaverton Sub Station, is a lifelong Cubs fan who was born and raised in Chicago. Wilson held a Cubs Day Saturday to celebrate the team’s first win in 108 years.

“..It finally came true, the Cubs had a great victory,” Wilson said. “We’ve got all the Cubs fans out here, the greatest fans in the world.”

The party had a raffle, souvenirs and even Cub-cakes

Beaverton is home to another big Cubs fan — Mayor Denny Doyle. He said he didn’t know Beaverton had so many Cubs fans but is glad it’s what everyone is talking about.

The mayor is also a Chicago native, and says he was born not far from Wrigley field.

Doyle said he and Wilson have been talking about this day for years.

“We’ve watched and suffered and rooted and put up with it,” Doyle said. “And you know, they pulled it off and it was just a great win.”
