PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Another food cart pod was a crime target, this time in Northeast Portland.

This relatively new pod known as the 42nd Avenue Food Carts (at Killingsworth) includes Pastrami Zombie and Sherpa Nirvana.

Ang Sherpa, who owns the Himalayan-themed cart, said she came in Tuesday morning and found the door busted from its hinges. She said nothing was taken and that she doesn’t leave any valuables in the cart overnight.

Still, she said, news of the break-in is hard to digest.

“I was very sad to hear that because this is the cart I worked so hard on,” Sherpa said. “We are working so hard and for somebody to come in and destroy it like this, it gives us a lot of hardship.”

Both carts plan to re-open on Thursday.

Carts on Foster had 11 food carts vandalized in the early hours of October 26, just days after the food carts at Portland Mercado were broken into.

Photos on the Carts on Foster Facebook page show broken windows, damaged awnings and doors ripped off their hinges.

Jose Perez who works at Que Bola in the Portland Mercado said he reinforced the door on his cart and is working to install security cameras.
