PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 31-year-old parole violator is back behind bars after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase from Portland to Clackamas County early Monday.

The chase started on Southeast Stark near I-205 in Southeast Portland after police saw the van headed the wrong way. The chase stretched through the Darlington neighborhood before the driver, later identified as Jonathan Delano Swenson, headed south into Clackamas County.

Police were able to get the vehicle stopped at Hwy. 224 and Southeast Johnson Road after using spike strips to deflate at least one of the van’s tires and using a maneuver to spin it.

There were no reported injuries associated to the chase.

The 2 passengers in the van were released. Only Swenson was arrested and is charged with attempt to elude by vehicle and reckless driving. He is also being held on a parole violation.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and Milwaukie Police Department assisted with the case.
