Court docs: Man confesses to Gresham murder

GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN) – The man who shot and killed an acquaintance during a fight will be arraigned Monday afternoon, according to court officials.

The investigation started Oct. 27 around 10:22 p.m. when Gresham Police got called to reports of a shooting at Northeast 162 and Northeast Glisan.

According to police, Christopher Moss got into a fight with Jamaine Oliver Jr. The two men were acquaintances.

Police say that Oliver ran after Moss and fired a single shot from a handgun. According to court documents, Moss died as a result of gunshot wound to the back. Moss was rushed to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center where he later died.

The murder was witnessed by several people including three teenagers.

According to court documents, Oliver was arrested in the 200 block of Northeast 162nd Ave. on Oct. 28 and taken to the Gresham Police station. During a police interview, Oliver confessed to shooting Moss. Oliver claimed that Moss was armed with a knife and was attempting to stab him, just prior to the shooting.
