MILWAUKIE, Ore. (KOIN) — Dean Boettcher, accused of killing his 50-year-old roommate at a Milwaukie home last week, was arrested in Oklahoma and will be extradited to face charges.
Matthew Nelson Timmons was killed at a home in the 17000 block of SE Oatfield Road — a home nearby residents only now are learning is a transitional home for convicted criminals.
Boettcher has felony convictions for assault and sex abuse.
Neighbors now believe he wasn’t the only convicted felon living in that house. And if it was used as a home for convicted criminals, neighbors told KOIN 6 News they were not notified.
“I was shocked. I was really, totally shocked,” neighbor Betty Irvine said Monday. “I’m certainly going to be more cautious about keeping my doors locked, obviously, when I’m gone. I typically don’t worry about things like that when I’m home by myself. Now there’s that in the back of my mind going on. How it will happen again, if it will happen again.”
Irvine said she “always just noticed there were a lot of men next door. And a lot of cars. ”
KOIN 6 News discovered the man listed as the property owner for the Oatfield Road house is also a convicted criminal for sodomy and rape.
Officials with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office told KOIN 6 News they cannot confirm the home is a halfway house.
KOIN 6 News will have more information later.
