PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 36-year-old mother was found shot to death in a NE Portland office building Saturday evening, and police said they are investigating a possible connection with a man’s suicide a mile away.

Mitra Mehrabadi of Lake Oswego was found dead when police were called to Portland’s Liberty Centre at 650 NE Holladay Street around 7:40 p.m.

Officers on the scene determined the circumstances surrounding the homicide were suspicious, according to Portland Police Bureau.

Earlier Saturday, police responded to reports of a suspicious man with a gun sitting in a black sedan on the 800 block of NE 19th Avenue. Officers reportedly heard a gunshot from inside the car and found 51-year-old Jimmy Alan Morgan dead.

Investigators learned Morgan and Mehrabadi worked together at Liberty Mutual Insurance in the Liberty Centre, police said.

“She’s friendly, a beautiful lady, has a lovely child, a nice husband,” Mehrabadi’s neighbor Nancy Jones told KOIN 6 News. “My heart hurts for that little girl.”

Anyone with information on the case should contact Detective Michele Michaels at 503.823.0692 or Detective Bryan Steed at 503.823.0395.
