Oregon prepares for quake with ShakeOut drill

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Great ShakeOut earthquake drill took place at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday morning.

The American Red Cross held the drill and an earthquake preparedness forum called Prepare Out Loud.

The annual drill aims to help residents prepare for the potential 9.0 magnitude earthquake that is expected to eventually hit the region.

Schools and businesses across the region participated in the Cascadia Subduction Zone drill as well.
