PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Bend Bulletin endorsed Hillary Clinton on Sunday, saying she’s the only candidate qualified to serve as president.

Despite the newspaper calling both candidates “deeply flawed,” the published editorial states voters in Central Oregon need to help Clinton get to the White House.

This endorsement breaks a mold for the newspaper which endorsed Republican George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004, Republican John McCain in 2008 and Republican Mitt Romney in 2012.

The Bend Bulletin said Donald Trump comes up short in terms of possessing the right mix of experience and temperament to be president.

The Oregonian hasn’t endorsed any presidential candidates in this election. This comes after the newspaper’s editorial board decided in 2012 to abandon presidential endorsements.
