Armed homeowner beaten with his own shotgun

Timothy Surrena, 39, faces multiple charges

WOODLAND, Wash. (KOIN) — An armed homeowner was beaten with his own shotgun when he went to investigate a suspicious person at his house in the early hours of Sunday.

The incident began just before 3 a.m. when deputies were called to 4418 NW Hayes Road in Woodland. The homeowner told deputies he was outside his house with a shotgun checking out the suspicious man when the the gun was taken away from him.

The suspect — later identified ast Timothy R. Surrena — allegedly used the shotgun to beat the homeowner in his face. He then left as he fired shots into the air, and went to a nearby home at 4403 NW Hayes.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene and a SWAT unit was brought in to surround the home. Surrena, 39, was then taken into custody.

He was booked into the Clark County Jail and faces charges of 1st-degree assault, 1st-degree robbery and theft of a firearm.

There is no word at this time on the condition of the homeowner.
