PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The rain started coming down hard in Portland Friday night.
Several areas became flooded and cars that tried to make it through high water got stuck.
On SE Powell Blvd a man drove straight a flooded area despite warnings from bystanders.
Good Samaratins held that driver escape through his passenger side window, reminding him that it’s just a car.
Thomas Vasquez didn’t hesitate to stop and tow a stuck car out of high water in the same area.
Several lanes of I-84 were also closed down due to high water.
TriMet said MAX trains and buses were delayed throughout the night due to high water and flooding. The Portland Streetcar suspended service for several hours due to flooding as well.
Police and emergency agencies in the metro area are warning people not to drive through flooded areas and to just stay inside.
Forecasts indicate that Friday evening’s rain is just a preview for the big storm that is expected to hit on Saturday.
