‘Voice of PF&R’ Neil Heesacker dies at age 75

The retired PF&R public information officer died of pancreatic cancer

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Longtime Portland Fire and Rescue public information officer Neil Heesacker died surrounded by his family on October 9.

Heesacker was 75-years-old when he succumbed to pancreatic cancer.

The Forest Grove native worked for 37 years in fire service and was known as ‘the voice of Portland Fire and Rescue,’ where he was often seen in the local media in his role as public information officer for 30 years.

He retired in 2004.

Heesacker spent his life in Forest Grove with his wife Joanne and children, Susie, Scott, Shelly and Sherry. He is also survived by his brother, 4 sisters, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

Heesacker will be laid to rest at St. Franscis of Assisi Catholic Cemetery in Roy, Ore. on October 14 following a Catholic service.
