Columbia Co. road worker pinned by SUV, airlifted

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A road worker was airlifted after being struck and pinned by a sport utility vehicle in Columbia County on Tuesday afternoon.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said the unnamed road worker was pinned between an SUV and paving equipment. The man was part of a crew doing paving on Apiary Road around 12 p.m.

He was flown to the Portland Trauma Center with “very serious” injuries, deputies said.

The driver of the SUV was taken to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview, Wash. with minor injuries.

No one else was injured in the incident, but the road is expected to be closed until late afternoon.
