Vancouver teen cyclist hit by car, critically hurt

Boy, 15, didn't activate the crosswalk signal and rode in front of a car

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN) — A teenage boy is in critical condition after being struck by a car on Mill Plain Blvd. around 8:35 a.m. on Thursday.

The 15-year-old was crossing the intersection on a bike but did not activate the crosswalk signal. The driver was not able to stop in time to avoid hitting the bicyclist, Vancouver police said.

The teen was rushed to the hospital for treatment of his critical injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
