PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Oregon, and U.S. Sen. Al Franken, D-Minnesota, jointly called for Wells Fargo to be criminally investigated on Thursday.

They spoke in Portland and said they wanted to see the sales tactics of Wells Fargo closely inspected.

This comes after allegations that bank employees opened millions of unauthorized accounts to meet sales quotas.

The CEO of Wells Fargo has faced calls for his resignation from other harshly critical senators.
