GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN) — A man who was walking on NE Hogan Dr. died Wednesday night after he was hit by a car around 8 p.m.
Initial investigations determined the pedestrian, a 52-year-old Gresham man was wearing dark clothing was likely under the influence of alcohol. He crossed the street and for unknown reasons, turned around and started back the way he had come.
The 26-year-old driver of a 1999 GMC pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with the Multnomah County Major Crimes Team’s investigation into the crash. Gresham Police say speed and alcohol were not contributing factors into the crash and he is not currently facing charges.
Police say the rain, the pedestrians dark clothes and how close he was to the road are the main factors.
