PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The ex-boyfriend of slain Apache Hightower, named a person of interest in her death, is back in Oregon, deputies say.

Jesse A. Lane, 28, was arrested in Santa Barbara on a parole warrant and extradited to Columbia County.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said authorities are interviewing Lane, and when they are finished, he will be booked into the Columbia County Jail.

The slain 24-year-old left behind an 11-month-old daughter, Luna, who is now being cared for by Hightower’s parents.

Recent surveillance video has led investigators to believe more than one person might have been involved in the murder, and they hope Lane will be the key to discovering what happened.

The family was afraid Lane would run for it and they would never get any answers.

Lane has not officially been named a suspect in the murder, and what he was doing in Santa Barbara is still not known. He remains in custody solely on the state parole board hold. That hold will remain until a hearing can be held at a later date.
