PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The owners of a new hotel in NE Portland are putting their own spin on the tiny house movement.

The Tiny Digs Hotel opened on Saturday in the Kerns neighborhood. The hotel features 6 tiny houses for rent. Each tiny house has its own theme, which the owner say is a chance to showcase the variety of tiny house options.

“Each of them are themed, so we have a barn, a bamboo, a modern, a gypsy wagon, and then they are styled inside to sort of support that theme and really one of our intents is to showcase unique building materials and building styles and inspire people who might be building their own tiny home,” co-owner Allison Meyer said.

The hotel, which is constructed on an 18-thousand square foot car lot, will also feature an outdoor common space with fireplaces.

The tiny house rentals do come with a not so tiny price. Much like a traditional hotel room, they cost around $145-$155 to rent.
