WILSONVILLE, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman was sexually assaulted outside her Wilsonville apartment as she came home late one night.

The woman said a man attacked her around 11 p.m. as she entered her Jory Trails Apartment, 8750 SW Ash Meadows Road, on September 21.

Wilsonville police said they haven’t had to deal with a case like this for more than a year. Sgt. Matt Swanson with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said this “would be considered extremely infrequent, but I would want people to konw that law enforcemtn is working very hard to solve this case.”

The woman hadn’t yet entered her apartment in the southeast corner of the complex when the man came after her.

She let out a shriek which scared off the attacker. That shriek also alerted a neighbor, who got a glimpse of the man.

He is described a white or Hispanic man who is 5-feet-3 to 5-7 and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a dark baseball cap.

Sgt. Swanson said there is a chance the man followed the woman home.

“That’s one of the theories that we’re looking into, to see how this person might have come on to her physically,” he said. “So we’re looking into every possible avenue.”

The woman was not seriously injured but was treated at a hospital.

A neighbor told KOIN 6 News there was also an attempted break-in the same week at these apartments.

“We’ve collected some forensic evidence that we have at the crime lab and we continue to pore over tips of this case,” Swanson said.

Anyone with with information about this incident is asked to call Wilsonville Police at 503.682.1276.
