PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman was traumatically injured after stepping in front of an oncoming MAX train traveling west on Wednesday afternoon, police say.

The incident took place at 4:15 p.m. at 143rd Avenue and East Burnside Street. The injured woman was taken to a Portland hospital to be treated, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Westbound MAX traffic is expected to be impacted for about an hour, police said. Traffic along East Burnside Street may also be impacted.

Shuttle buses are serving stations between E. 122nd Avenue and 162nd, between Gateway TC and Cleveland Avenue.Riders should expect delays.
