PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two log trucks collided on Highway 140 in the early hours of Wednesday, killing one of the drivers and closing the road for hours.

The crash about 2 miles east of Lakeview happened around 5:15 a.m., the Oregon State Police said. Douglas McClain was driving a 1956 Peterbilt when it caught on fire coming down the hill and slammed into the back of the other truck.

Both trucks went off the road and lost their logs.

McClain, 60, died at the scene.

Brenton Cannon, the driver of the other truck, was not hurt and stayed on the scene to help. The 66-year-old was driving a 1979 Kenworth.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
