BEND, Ore. (AP) — A 38-year-old hiker missing on South Sister since late Saturday afternoon has been found alive, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office tweeted on Monday.

Gerald Derrickson summited the mountain late Saturday afternoon after separating from his hiking partner. He then failed to return to the trailhead as planned.

A search began Sunday, but was suspended because of darkness and hazardous conditions.

Derrickson was last seen wearing a black shirt, gray sweatpants and red Portland Trail Blazers baseball hat. He was carrying a blue backpack.
