PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 22-year-old man was killed in a crash on Highway 26 on Monday night.

Charles Kakuska of Cannon Beach died after sustaining injuries in the crash east of Seaside. Police say he left the scene in another car before authorities arrived on scene and died later at a hospital.

Officials believe his 1990 Honda Accord may have been speeding when it drifted off the highway and into a ditch. The car that picked him up is believed to have been speeding as well and was later stopped by Cannon Beach Police.

Officials are seeking witnesses to the accident or anyone who may have been Kakuska driving before the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Greg Schuerger at 503-861-0781.
