Alleged prostitution operation busted, 2 arrested

Both suspects will appear in court on Friday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 34-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman have been indicted by a grand jury who accuses them of forcing two females into prostitution.

Deitrus Tremaine Rayford and Laticia Niona Staples both remain in custody at separate jails in Multnomah County.

According to court records, both Rayford and Staples used intimidation to compel two females into acts of prostitution. The incidents are said to have occurred earlier this summer.

Rayford and Staples are both charged with two counts of compelling prostitution. Rayford is charged with 15 counts of promoting prostitution and Staples is charged with 14 counts of promoting prostitution.

Records show that Rayford has been convicted of 8 felonies, 4 misdemeanors and 14 probation violations. His bail is set at $545,000.

Staples, records show, has never been convicted of a felony, but has been convicted of 3 misdemeanors.

Both Rayford and Staples will appear in court on Friday.
