PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It’s always scary to experience the silence that comes when your car won’t start.

Even if you didn’t leave the lights on, there are plenty of things that could be wasting your car’s battery. Cell phones, DVD players, GPS, laptops — any electronics that are plugged in use battery power, even if they aren’t powered on.

Even a key fob can suck power from a car battery if it’s left near the car.
