SELMA, Ore. (KOIN) — Three houses and 5 other structures were damaged when a wildfire burned about 50 acres in southern Oregon.

The fire along Hwy 199, near the California border, is believed to be human caused. A suspect, Marcus Yeoman was cited for reckless burning. He was initially arrested for an unrelated charge and became a person of interest in the fire investigation.

Yeoman is a transient from the Selma area and Oregon State Police say he built a campfire that lead to the wildfire.

Firefighters worked on forming a wet line around the perimeter early Saturday and had it about 87% contained by the afternoon.
