SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — A man who tried to burn a Salem florist shop had 3 knives, brass knuckles and a lighter with him when he was arrested late Thursday.

Jesus Ochoa-Oliveros allegedly lit rags to try and burn Hearthbeat Florist, 500 Lancaster Drive SE, around 10:50 p.m. He tried to run but was arrested after a short chase.

Marion County deputies tried to arrest him the night before but he was able to escape. He was wanted for “a series of criminal mischiefs and a dumpster fire,” the sherriff’s office said.

Ochoa-Oliveros faces charges of arson, resisting arrest, interfering with a police officer and carrying a concealed weapon.
