Riley Zickel, 21, has been missing in the Jefferson Wilderness since July 27, 2016.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A group of 60 searchers are planning to search for missing hiker Riley Zickel around Russel Lake and surrounding areas on August 6.

Thirty searchers checked north and south of the Mt. Jefferson wilderness area on August 5 and did not find him.

A picture of a man standing by a tent given to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office by a someone who had recently hiked in the Jefferson Wildnerness turned not to be a photo of Riley Zickel.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said late Wednesday night that another hiker contacted them and said it was him in the photo, not Riley Zickel, who has been missing in the area since last week.

Crews searched Wednesday but found no sign of Zickel. 40 searchers will head out on Thursday morning at 8 a.m., focusing north and south along the Pacific Crest Trail.

Authorities released images of items Zickel may have had with him, including a hat and a tent. Zickel’s dad told KOIN 6 News on Tuesday that the 21-year-old is an experienced hiker and is confident he will be found alive.
