PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man accused of breaking into homes and stealing cars was arrested on Wednesday morning.
Police say 38-year-old Ryan Scott Davis broke into a home in the 2600 block of Southeast 52nd Avenue around midnight and stole a gray 2004 Mazda RX8.
A short time later, they received reports that an armed suspect was attempting to steal a car in the 2000 block of Southeast 51st Avenue. They arrived in the area and found both stolen cars abandoned.
They began to search for the suspect in the area and eventually found Davis in a shed in the 4700 block of Southeast Franklin Street.
The Portland Police Bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) assisted with the search and SERT officers deployed a non-lethal chemical agent into the shed to get him to come out.
His handgun was recovered by police K9 units near SE 49th Avenue and Kelly Street.
