A Freezing Rain Advisory is in effect until 6pm Friday for the Portland/Vancouver metro area. We’ll see pockets of light freezing rain this afternoon, but most of the issues are in the hills around town and east of I-205. The thaw has begun, but it’ll be slow. Expect temperatures in the mid 30s this afternoon and evening. Near the gorge, temperatures remain near freezing and in the gorge, 20s are widespread.
An Ice Storm Warning is in effect until Saturday morning between Cascade Locks and Troutdale. Significant ice accumulation (1/2” to ¾”) is likely as freezing rain ramps up this afternoon and evening. East of Cascade Locks, around Hood River and The Dalles snow will continue through tonight. A Winter Storm Warning continues through 4pm today. 1”-4” additional snow is possible. Roads are snow packed and icy.
This weekend looks wet. Expect spotty showers early Saturday with increasing rain Saturday afternoon. High temperatures will be in the mid-40s up and down I-5. Eventually, the gorge thaws Saturday afternoon with a push of west wind. High will be in the low-40s in the gorge Saturday. Showers continue into Sunday. By Monday, showers will be fairly isolated.
East wind and cold air returns Tuesday! We’ll be watching the forecast closely toward the middle and end of the week. There’s a chance of more winter weather.
