Harley driver hits Chevy SUV, dies in SE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A motorcyclist died after slamming into the side of a turning SUV shortly before midnight Saturday night in Southeast Portland.

The 45-year-old Harley-Davidson driver, whose name has not been released, was headed south on SE 82nd near Schiller when a northbound SUV turned left into the Don Pedro Mexican Restaurant lot. The motorcyclist hit the passenger side of the Chevy Trailblazer and died at the scene.

Investigators said the motorcyclist may have been speeding. The SUV driver stayed and cooperated, and investigators said there was no sign of impairment or distracted driving.

The investigation continues.
