PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 92-car Union Pacific train stopped along the Columbia River Gorge Tuesday night after crews noticed it was leaking fuel.
The train was heading east from Portland and carrying a variety of cargo.
HazMat crews from Multnomah County were called out to assist Corbett Fire and the leak has been stopped as of now.
The sheriff’s office believes the leak was caused by a broke cap on the fuel filter.
Union Pacific spokesman Justin Jacobs told KOIN 6 News it’s unclear if the train will be able to continue. Rail traffic is impacted.
