PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Pickles start their inaugural season at home Friday night at the newly renovated Walker Stadium in Lents Park.
The team is made up of aspiring major league players who are currently in college.
Team owner Ken Wilson says the 33 home games are affordable family entertainment. It costs just $6 to get in.
“It’s all about fun. There’s a mascot, greatest pickle in the world, Dillon. There’s great music, contests — kids get to go on the field during the game — hula hoop contests, run the bases, all sorts of crazy things.”
When the Pickles aren’t playing at Walker Stadium, it will be open for community use.
