A new extended and separated Mill Plain off-ramp that runs parallel to I-205 southbound will open to traffic starting at 5 a.m. Saturday, June 11. You may miss it though if you’re not looking for it. The new off-ramp requires you to exit the highway almost a mile sooner than you currently do.
“If you’re southbound on I-205 and miss the new Mill Plain Boulevard exit, you won’t be able to turn around until you reach State Route 14,” said Project Engineer Lori Figone. “Not all navigation systems will be updated immediately with the new off-ramp configuration, so drivers should keep an eye out for the new highway exit signs.”
Crews will close two lanes of I-205 southbound between SR 500 and SR 14 from 9 p.m. Friday, June 10 to 7 a.m. Saturday, June 11 to prepare for the switch from the old ramp to the new one. This permanent traffic shift is part of the I-205 Mill Plain Interchange to NE 18th Street project. The project will wrap up this year.
The new Mill Plain exit ramp on I-205 southbound will help relieve weaving traffic ad reduce backups making it safer for the more than 15,000 drivers who use it daily.
