MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A South Medford High School teacher has been accused of exchanging sexually explicit text messages with at least one of his minor students.

The Mail Tribune reports that 38-year-old Richard Fay was arrested Wednesday on child pornography charges after a 17-year-old student said they had been sexting. Officials say another student came forward with similar allegations after his arrest.

Fay pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned Thursday.

Medford School District spokeswoman Natalie Hurd says the district is cooperating with investigators and that Fay, who taught social studies, has been removed from the classroom pending the outcome of the investigation.
