Family fun: Oregon State Parks free this Saturday

"The idea is to give people a chance to have this experience without shelling out a bunch of money."

ESTACADA, Ore. (KOIN) — If the weather wasn’t a good enough reason to visit a state park this weekend, maybe this will help: The parks are free on Saturday.

In addition to camping and day use fees being waived, many parks are holding special events. At Milo McIver State Park, people who fish at Estacada Lake will have a better chance of being rewarded.

“These lakes around here are all fully stocked. In the last week we’ve stocked over 50 lakes with over 80,000 trout. That’s just some of the fish available in addition to Steelhead, Chinook in some of the rivers,” says Rick Swart with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The legislature authorized these free days and there will be more in the future.
