TROUTDALE, Ore. (KOIN) — Two men allegedly racing on I-84 were intercepted by Multnomah County deputies Monday morning.

Checking out a report of cars getting ready to race on eastbound I-84 near Corbett, deputies spotted two cars getting on westbound I-84 at Rooster Rock.

Philip D’Avanzo, driving a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette with a GoPro mounted on the rear passenger side, was clocked doing 116 mph, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said. He was issued a number of citations.

The second car, a 2002 Pontiac Firebird driven by Christopher Rocklin, was clocked around 106 mph. The 43-year-old Portland man had a passenger, authorities said. Rocklin was arrested and charged with reckless driving, reckless endangering and disorderly conduct.

Both cars were towed.
