Man arrested after girlfriend found beaten in car

HOOD RIVER, Ore. (KOIN) — A severely beaten woman was seen being loaded into a car in a McDonald’s parking lot, prompting a witness to call police.

Police officers found Matthew Irwin with his girlfriend, Kelly White, in critical condition in the backseat of a white Nissan Xterra. The couple is from California.

White, 35, was taken to the hospital and treated for life-threatening injuries.

Irwin was arrested on May 27 on charges of assault and attempted murder. Police believe the assault took place in the evening on May 26 near Wanapa St. in Cascade Locks.
